For months on end, I was telling anyone who would listen that the space formerly occupied by Vroman’s Fine Writing and Stationary at 667 E. Colorado (next to Laemmle) would be perfect for a restaurant. I had thrown out fast-casual suggestions such as Five Guys Burgers or Smashburger to name a few. Finally someone with food knowledge had a similar idea and the concept of Blaze Pizza was born.
Blaze Pizza is the brainchild of Wetzel’s Pretzels founder Rick Wetzel. The Pasadena location will be the second opening for the new chain as they opened up in Irvine around August. The concept is a customizable pizza with signature pizzas and salads also offered (see menu here).
Personally I am excited by this addition to the growing restaurant row, which also includes Tender Greens, Roy’s, the upcoming Urth Caffe and Settebello which I believe will see a dropoff in patrons given this new competitor.
