I have now heard from several credible sources that Fleming’s, the upscale steakhouse, will be opening up shop in the former Coldwater Creek space at 455 S. Lake Avenue. If this is true, I believe it is fantastic news for the community and a great move on the part of the Fleming’s.
Fleming’s is a great chain that creates a comfortable, upscale feel without the over-the-top prices. Their happy hour menu, 5 for $6 ’til 7, has a number of good deals on it and the menu is what you would expect from a steakhouse.
Personally, I’m not a huge fan of either Ruth’s Chris or Arroyo Chop House, so I would welcome this addition with open arms. When I first moved to LA, my roommate and I would go to Fleming’s as a treat from time to time and I have fond memories of the restaurant.
South Lake is shaping up to be a great dining destination. Between the opening of Trattoria Neapolis, the quick grab options at Lemonade and now this, you certainly can’t starve.
Lemonade, the quirky lunch spot, is coming to Pasadena. The restaurant has confirmed a June opening in the old Napa Style space at 146 S. Lake Avenue. This will be a perfect spot for the lunchtime crowd as it’s centrally located between the large office complexes just north and south of this area.
Lemonade has been in expansion mode as of late. With space already in West Hollywood, Downtown LA, Venice and MOCA, they are getting set to open their latest outpost in Brentwood later this month and then concentrating on finishing up the Pasadena location.
If you have never been to any of their locations, they have a modern twist on the grade-school cafeteria. “Come lunchtime, you’ll grab a tray and slide it down the counter to examine your options. Unlike those early years, though, you’ll actually want to build a meal from what you see under the glass.” Their marketplace consists of interesting, small portion salads which can be taken by itself or added with their more filling portions. And yes, their lemonade flavors are fantastic.
The Commons, the complex where it will open, is seeing an uptick in occupancy and now can feel better having Lemonade as part of their tenant list. Now you can pick up some salads at Lemonade, cheese and meat at The Cheese Store of Pasadena and some wine at the Wine Detective for a great night.
